Well, y'all...I've been cookin,' movie-goin,' gardenin,' piddlin,' putzin,' organizin' my next cookbook, and relocatin' a passle of squirrels that keep eatin' my black oil seed out of my wild bird feeders! Actually, I wanted to dig out my old wild game recipe, along with my 5-quart black cast iron Dutch oven and. . .well, Mary Clare made me go to the Feed & Seed Store and buy a Hava-Hart Trap. So now I'm taking them to John Slidell Park. . .or Camp Villere. . .or the US Hwy 190 Post Office. . .or to the back of WalMart. . .or to the parking lot behind The Olive Garden. . .or to the beach on Carr Drive. But listen up--they seem to like all of these drop-off spots. And besides, those places didn't have their own indigenous population of cute little grey squirrels. So like a good conservationist, I'm establishing new habitat.
Anyway, it's been nice this week not having to meet deadlines from sunup to sundown. I'll have time enough to get back to that next week. It's also been nice to kinda veg-out (wait! MC thinks I shouldn't spend so much time in my office on my computer, but then she opens the door, walks in, and hands me a plate of streaming hot crawfish boudin!). I think I'll keep her for another 10 or 15 years!
Well, that's it for me today. I'm just keepin' up with y'all while I'm away from the Crescent City and all the goings-on in town. Tonight, we're planning to meet some old friends from our pre-Katrina neighborhood and go out for some Louisiana seafood! So you wanna know if I'm still eatin' Louisiana seafood? Abso-freakin'-lutely! That's because what's in our restaurants and in our major grocery stores and our principal seafood outlets is safe to eat. Of course, if you buy it out of the back of a pickup truck alongside the road where the seller starts the conversation with....."Psssssst! Hey...you wanna buy some ersters?". . .then you're on your own.
But that said, I'm think I'm gonna go pack up some contraband popcorn and candy and go take in another movie this afternoon. I hear this "Toy Story" is supposed to be the best one of the three. Besides, it's 3 o'clock and it's really cool in the show! See ya after the flick.
